Competitive Counter-Strike continues to draw a healthy amount of spectators as Valve's FPS has grown significantly since the end of 2013. Following Katowice earlier this year, the ESL Championship begins 3 AM Eastern on Thursday, the first matches of ESL One Cologne 2014 will kick off in Germany, culminating in a final match on Sunday.

Launched just before Christmas in the kind of primetime slot that with hindsight so often looks like a graveyard, Ubisoft anticipated that Siege would achieve lifetime sales of over seven million copies. That might sound heinous, but it's to the credit of the development team at Ubisoft Montreal that it doesn't encroach too much on the core experience. These microtransactions, however, haven't had a good impact on the game's image, and much like Evolve, Ubisoft is in danger of losing players before they've even given the game a try.

This time, the magnitude of the misstep has clearly sunk in.But which should you go for?The ESEA has also issued bans against the seven players in question, saying that while the bans are currently set for one year, it reserves the right to extend them indefinitely. It noted that it has since implemented its own policy explicitly forbidding players, managers, and sponsors from betting on their own matches, adding, "We strongly encourage all organizations, regardless of their affiliation with Valve, to mirror and enforce these bans so that a clear message is sent—there is no place for match fixing in professional gaming."
